Your easy morning skincare routine: Every step in less than 5 minutes

Skipping a morning skincare routine can be very tempting when you have hit that snooze button one too many times, especially if it has way too many steps or takes to long to complete. However, applying skincare products in the morning is not only the best way to form a barrier to protect your skin from everyday pollutants, but also to provide the best possible base for makeup application.

Here we simplify your morning skincare routine to five easy steps, which will take you under five minutes complete so even the version of you which is running five minutes behind has time to sneak in your morning skincare.

Cleanse

Start by gently cleansing your face each morning to remove any leftover residue from products you applied the night before. This also gives you a clean base and prepares your skin for the best possible makeup application.

The ARTISTRY® Skin Nutrition Hydrating Mousse Cleanser gently sweeps away dirt, debris and other impurities from the skin.

Tone

After cleansing, toner is the first barrier product that you should apply. A good toner balances your skin’s pH, hydrates your skin, and provides a good base to absorb your serum or moisturiser. Apply a few drops of toner and press it into the skin with your fingers or a cotton pad.

A clean and simple toner to use is the ARTISTRY® Skin Nutrition Hydrating Smoothing Toner, leaving skin with a smooth, silky-soft feel, and a vibrant, healthy complexion.

Apply a serum

Your face squares up against the elements throughout the day such as exhaust fumes from cars and buses on your daily commute, your dirty phone screen and general pollution. A good place to start is with either an antioxidant serum or a hyaluronic acid serum.

A good antioxidant serum works to make sure that none of the external stressors make it to the surface layer of your skin and turn into fine line and wrinkles whilst keeping your skin nice and bright. Whereas Hyaluronic acid surges moisture into the skin, increasing the skins moisture whilst also reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Moisturiser

A good moisturiser helps to keep your skin feeling soft and hydrated all whilst strengthening your skins barrier. Keeping your skin moisturised is crucial to hydrating, and keeping the skin looking youthful and healthy.

If you have oily or acne-prone skin, you can opt for a lotion formula such as the Skin Nutrition Hydrating Day Lotion SPF15 that will soak in quickly and won’t pill under makeup. If your skin is on the drier side, opt for a thicker formula like a cream, such as the Skin Nutrition Hydrating Gel Cream which will act as a thick hydrating barrier for the skin.

Protect yourself from UV rays

The final and most important step – sunscreen is the number 1 anti-ageing product in any skincare routine, making sunscreen non-negotiable in any morning skincare routine. As we know, it is always best to prevent than repair, and experts say that sunscreen must be applied when the UV level is forecast to be three or higher* – which is most days of the year in Australia.

Apply the three-finger method – enough product to spread across your index, middle and ring finger – to your face, neck, and the backs of your hands 30 minutes before you head outside for optimum sun protection. If you are at all tempted to skip this step, opt for a moisturiser which also includes an SPF, so that you combine both steps into one.
