Did you know your skin is your body's biggest organ? That's one reason it deserves to be treated with care. From your hard-working hands to arms, legs, and more, here are a few facts you should know.

Body Skin Facts
There are over 3 million skin cells on every square centimetre of your body— billions and billions of cells in all, each one vital to your body's health and well-being.

Skin is responsible for holding good things, like water and nutrients, inside your body—and for keeping bad things out. That includes germs and other environmental stressors and impurities. Thankfully, healthy, cared-for skin is remarkably good at what it does!

Skin is not the same all over your body:

  • Face: You may already know that your facial skin is thinner and more delicate than your body skin—especially around your eyes. For advanced care for your face, we recommend ARTISTRY® skincare.
  • Elbows and Heels: You can probably tell that skin on your elbows and heels is especially thick.
  • Hands: Skin on your hands—thin on the back, thicker on the palm side—is especially exposed to daily life, from hard use to frequent washing, handshakes, nicks and scrapes, household cleaning products, and more.
  • Odour Zones: Some skin (we're looking at you, feet and underarms) has "special" qualities—including the number and type of sweat glands—that naturally lead to unpleasant odours.
