Win at Winter: Resist The Elements

Maybe those bears, turtles and hamsters are onto something. When the cold wind, rain and snow arrive, they just curl up for a long nap until the weather improves.

It’s a tempting idea, and one that most teenagers have already taken to heart. But while it might be nice to hibernate each winter, it’s probably not that practical a solution for the rest of us. We’ve got businesses to run, work to do, people to see, “unmissable” TV shows to watch.

So every now and then we have to expose ourselves to the cold air and harsh wind—not exactly the best environment for our skin. And when we get home and switch on the heating, we do even more damage as our skin immediately begins to dry out.

The Perils of Dry Skin

Dry skin and chapped lips are far more common during the colder months. Without protection, your skin can become inflamed or crack and it can take quite a while to heal. Over time, this cycle of damage and repair will cause it to lose its youthful, soft appearance.

That’s why your skincare routine is even more important in winter, to replenish the skin’s moisture and create a protective barrier against the elements.

In summer, you wouldn’t forget your sun cream. In winter, the right moisturiser, hand cream and face cream should also be essential parts of your skincare routine.

Soft, Beautiful Skin

With so many moisturisers on the market, it can be hard to know what to look for.

Everyone’s skin isn’t the same; so no single skincare or beauty product will be perfect for everyone. Look for a brand that caters to many different skin types, so you can choose a product specifically designed to maintain the optimum moisture balance of your skin.

Also you want a product that will not only moisturise, but also restore and protect your skin from the harsh elements. Check for all natural ingredients too.

A little extra care during winter can keep your skin looking soft and youthful.
