South Korean IBOs head to Cairns

Amway brings $13 million boost to Queensland economy as South Korean IBOs head to Cairns

Off the back of our successful Amway China 30th Anniversary Leadership Seminar in April, Amway ANZ will once again showcase some of the best of our region to international delegates. Over November and December, over 2800 top-performing South Korean IBOs will land in Cairns on Queensland’s Far North coastline. Arriving in groups of 450 to 500, the IBOs will experience an immersive four-night itinerary in the tropical paradise.

In what, for many, will be a first taste of Australia, each group will enjoy two full days of touring — taking in the Atherton Tablelands, Kuranda, the Daintree, Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef. Staying at the Shangri-La and The Marina Cairns, there will also be plenty of opportunity for swimming, golf and shopping, between wildlife encounters and awe-inspiring nature experiences.

As well as celebrating the hard work and accomplishment of South Korean IBOs, the seminar is a great opportunity to shine a light on local vendors.

“For the Amway Korea Seminar, we worked closely with local Cairns suppliers, weaving rich Indigenous culture throughout the program with deep respect for the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people, the traditional custodians,” said Maree Di Pasquale, CEO of Arinex (the event’s destination management company) in a statement.

“From interactive workshops to a fireworks finale set to Australian anthems in local Aboriginal languages, this program guarantees delegates a profound Tropical North Queensland journey.”

As a collaboration between Amway, Arinex and Tourism Tropical North Queensland, sustainability has been front of mind in planning the event — ensuring the natural beauty of the region is respected and protected,

Queensland Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell said attracting high-yield business events to the state delivers significant community and economic benefits.

“We’re thrilled to welcome 2800 Amway Korea delegates to the Cairns region over the next month to experience the best that tropical Queensland has to offer,” Minister Powell said.

“This cluster of events is anticipated to boost the state’s economy by $13 million, while simultaneously increasing our international reputation as an in-demand holiday destination.”

As part of our broader partnership with Tourism Australia, Amway is proud to have funded over 18,000 Chinese and South Korean delegates and injected over an estimated $100 million into the local economy in the last six months alone.
